I was sitting in my Interdisiplinary Inquiry class today kind of spacing off. I noticed all the binders that were sitting on the desks next to me. The ones that I ended up looking at were all completely different. Then I noticed the people that went with each notebook. It was really interesting the connections i made.

For example there is my notebook. It is a navy blue very conservative University of Washington Bothell notebook. There are no bright colors, it is all very professional. I am aspiring to go to Law School and become a criminal prosecuting attorney.

Then I looked at Sarina Macke's notebook. She has a Disney Channel notebook covered in very colorful and bright Faries. It is very fun loving and exciting. Sarina is aspiring to become an elementary school teacher and loves being creative and working with younder children.

The last notebook i looked at was Cate Fosters. She has a bright colored striped notebook. It is very plain compared to Sarinas, but it is also very bright and cheery compared to mine. Now Cate is aspiring to either be a journalist (which is a very creative job) or to work in an Art Museum. Both of these while not quite as creatively challenging as Sarina's job but it does require a certain amount of 'color' and spirit.

It was just really interesting, i let my mind wander and came up with this. hmmmm.... i wonder what my mind will wander off to next.

Passion

PASSION-The state of the mind when it is powerfully acted upon and influenced by something external to itself; the state of any particular faculty which, under such conditions, becomes extremely sensitive or uncontrollably excited; any emotion or sentiment (specifically, love or anger) in a state of abnormal or controlling activity; an extreme or inordinate desire; also, the capacity or susceptibility of being so affected; as, to be in a passion; the passions of love, hate, jealously, wrath, ambition, avarice, fear, etc.; a passion for war, or for drink; an orator should have passion as well as rhetorical skill.

Passion is something that once you have it it will never leave you... not completely. You may at times get discouraged but it will eventually come back to you. I have a passion for singing. It is my life and my way of expression. Without music and voice i would not be the person that i am today.

The Appreciation of Life

You know what i just thought about.... How much this quarter has actually changed me. I notice things now, i actually pay attention to details when I'm driving or walking to class or working. Its really weird to see things that you have missed for so long, i feel like my eyes have been opened. For example I went to Downtown Seattle last night for my friends birthday. As we were leaving the first bar i looked across the street and saw some of the most interesting graffiti i have ever seen in person. The thing is, when i was standing there looking at it, i realized that if i hadn't done this presentation and research on graffiti and listened to the lectures about it, i would never have noticed it or appreciated it. How much of a waste would that be, to miss something so beautiful in the middle of a city covered in advertisements. It reminds me the the saying "A diamond in the rough". The picture below is the picture I took on my phone of the graffiti i was talking about. I hope you all can appreciate it as much as i did!

BARBIE

I was just thinking about the Art of Subconscious graffiti lecture and I remembered that we kept talking about Barbie and how she is portrayed. This quote really reminded me of that lecture.

OBAMA VS MCCIAN

I remember Joe talking about a website that i decided to go check out. Streetsy.com. It was actually really interesting. I spent quite a while searching through the website. This picture stood out to me. It really shows how you can take a couple ordinary election pictures and create art with them. I also was really interested in the placing of this art. It is on a huge billboard/poster that covers the entire wall. Its something you just cant miss. If this was printed on a normal sized sheet of paper and posted on a telephone pole or something it wouldnt have near as much dramatic effect.

The only comment that this picture had on the website was "Brainwashed...." Im kinda of confused on this i guess. Are they talking about the art being posted the way it is and us actually paying attention to it, or the picture that was displayed. In this case the election results.

The Game (Yoko Ono)

To Score a goal,
To Dribble down a dirt field,
A Feeling,
A Rush.
